What’s an Innovation District?

Not a campus. Not a science park. Not a one-off project.

An innovation district is where research, business, education, and community all meet to spark new ideas and economic growth. It’s a place designed for collaboration, where startups, established companies, and local talent work together to create the jobs, technologies, and opportunities that move a city forward.

About the Walker’s Point Innovation District.

Mission

To connect, fund, and amplify Milwaukee’s innovation ecosystem by attracting investment, building partnerships, and expanding opportunities for local learners, career-changemakers, and inclusive innovators to thrive in a new economy.

The Walker’s Point Innovation District strengthens what already exists, empowering the people, organizations, and communities driving growth, collaboration, and creating pathways to the city’s future.

Vision

A connected, inclusive, and nationally recognized Milwaukee where innovation is rooted in neighborhoods and powered by collaboration between government, business, education, and community and becomes part of the city’s everyday life.
